Snowboarding is one of my favorite past times! There is something about being in the crisp air and hurling yourself down the face of a mountain that excites me. There multiple types of snowboards and bindings (straps that hold you to the board). The boards are backcountry, freestyle and park. The bindings are step in, over strap and toe cup strap. You chose the bindings that fell the best for you. Backcountry boarding is when you ride in a place that very few people go, like the backside of the mountain. Free style riding is when you fallow no set path, you may do some speed riding then slow down and enjoy the ride. Park riding is when you ride over jumps and jibs(obstacles placed in the way to ride over and on).
All types of riding are very enjoyable, it’s a mater of personal choice. Snowboarding has become vary popular in resent years as and alternative to skiing. So lets go over a run(trip up and down the mountain). First you lace up your boots. Then strap one foot into your bindings. Then push yourself skateboard style to the chair lift. The life takes you up the mountain where you dismount and head to the edge of the down slope. At this time you strap your other foot in and slide down the slope.
To steer yourself down you must stay on one edge of your board. If riding with your left foot in front you will go right if your riding on your toe edge, then shift your weight to the middle of the board for a split second while transferring to your heel edge to go to the left. Do this down the slope to go the way you would like. The straighter you point your board the faster you will go. To stop you must turn your board completely perpendicular to the mountain.
