When it comes to being on the slopes, people are there for two reasons. One is to have a good time and the other is to do everything you can to beat your competition so bad they’ll run home cryin’ to their Mamas. Let’s face it. If you’re not there to play, you’re there because you’re competing and snowboarders are the baddest of the bad when it comes to kicking tricks. That’s why they pay attention to anything having to do with snowboard news.
Pro snowboarders need to know anything new going on so they can be as far ahead of their competition as possible. Advances in boards, in wax or even in boots and jackets can make a major difference when hitting the slopes. And the fact that they can look good while doing it helps in all kinds of ways. Especially with sponsors and others that may be interested.
Boots are now an essential part of equipment, and with the advances in boots, come the advances in lacing systems. One lacing system uses a single stainless steel lace which is tightened by a click-stop dial on the back of the boot. You won’t have to adjust you laces again once you have gotten them tightened correctly.
And advances in jackets have been almost as important. Snowboarding is a cold sport, especially as boarders can approach speeds of 80 mph in some places and kicking tricks inevitably winds up with a face plant every now and again. Jackets now are much lighter and less bulky than even those from just a few years ago. Not only that, but new materials make them warmer, more wind resistant and water repellant than ever before. Unlike their competitors that don’t have these new jackets, snowboarders will have an advantage by being able to be better protected and more mobile.
The great thing about these jackets is that they also look great. Just because they’re tools being used to protect the snowboarder doesn’t mean they can’t be fashionable, and they are. New jackets look as great off the slopes as they are useful on them. And this is great because it means the snowboarder doesn’t have to change into a nicer looking jacket after they come of the slopes for shows or conferences.
