Locating The Right Style Of Board At Snowboard Shops

Snowboarding is a winter sport that gives a great winder adventure to both snowboarder and skier alike.  Skiing and snowboarding is one of the activities that give the thrill and excitement in every enthusiast particularly when the snow starts to fall.

When considering your snowboard purchase you need to make a determination what sort of  snowboard package you may want to buy. The fundamental types are the freeride, freestyle, the all mountain snow board and the alpine board.

For the beginner, the freestyle snowboard is a good choice. This board is wider and more stable. What sets it apart from other types are that it is shorter in length, the flex can range to moderate to stiff, and that the shape is semi-directional in nature.   Terrain park enthusiast use freestyle boards. For fast quick moves, fast directional changes, the freestyle board is more maneuverable than the free ride board.

Freeride snowboards can carve, catch air and would is a well-known type of board. In general it is good for all riding styles, and it is made to ride in one direction. Compared to the other boards, it is not as stable. It’s versatile since any terrain available will do. It is a medium length board with average stiffness and somewhat bi-directional (the tail is harder than the snout).  This board will perform as a good all-around board and built for good downhill speed and even allow for some tricks.

The alpine board, also referred to as the carving or racing board. It is engineered narrower to reach higher speeds.  A narrower board allows the rider to do quicker, cleaner turns and carves. As such, this board is longer in length, stiffer and has a directional bias. This board is not crafted for doing tricks and is meant to go in one direction. Beginning riders may have a harder time learning to ride these type boards.

If you’re looking for an all-around board, then the mountain board is your best answer. It does exactly what the name implies, which is to perform nicely in a variety of terrain conditions and a vast array of riding variations. This board is great board for the rider who likes to do a variety of activities on different slopes and terrains. This board combines the designs of a freeride board and a feestyle board. The shape is directional (the tail is harder than the snout) and is a little heavier and generally a little longer for a great ride on rough terrains. If you are looking for a good all around board, get this.

It comes down to  if it is too long it is not good  for freestyle riding where a wider stance and the board is shorter in length is more optimum. For free riding, you’ll want a longer board. Compromising with a medium sized board, the mountain board is a good multifaceted bet.

Choosing from a lot of snowboard products is not difficult if you know what you want performance wise. Shop around for the snowboard you are thinking about and search out the best discount deals at snowboard shops such as house snowboards.
