Snowboarding
If you have been skiing all of your adult life, it’s time you try something different. Snowboarding is enough like skiing that you should be able to pick it up. Snowboarding is also different enough from skiing that you’ll have to exercise different brain muscles in order to challenge yourself to learn something new.
What’s the same about skiing and snowboarding?
Well the way you dress is going to be the same with snowboarding as it will be in skiing. You will still need to dress in layers. You will still need to put on your thermal underwear first. You will still want to wear a shirt made of Thermax or a cotton blend on top of this. In addition, you are still going to have on your snow pants and ski jacket. A good hat and goggles that protect your eyes from the snow and sun will also be on the list of gear to wear.
What’s different about skiing and snowboarding?
The most obvious difference between skiing and snowboarding is the actual snowboard itself. It doesn’t matter whether you have a Longboard, Freestlyle, or a Raceboard – there will only be one of them. Conversely, there are two skis to snap your boots into which isn’t the case with a snowboard. Many say that snowboarding is a lot like skateboarding in the snow. So if you are a skateboarder, it may be easier to for you to pick up the nuances of snowboarding.
The idea is to try something new. Yes, there are differences as well as similarities when it comes to snowboarding and skiing, but they both have the snow in common at least! If you have tried one but not the other, why not widen your horizons and break up the monotony a little bit this winter – you just might like switching things up a bit every now and then.
