Snowboard with Style
One of the most popular sports in temperate regions is snowboarding. Snowboarding started in 1965 when Sherman Poppen, an engineer, created a gliding toy for his daughter. He attached a rope at the end of the two slim boards so his daughter can control the speed and direction of the panels.
This instantly became a hit among his daughter’s friends so he decided to authorize a manufacturer to create copies of his invention. Snurfers, a portmanteau of the world snow and surfer, sold over a million pieces in the following years after Poppen first crafted it for his daughter.
Snurfers are now more popularly called as snowboards. In the last couple of decades, snowboarding has greatly developed into one of the most competitive sports in the world. Many different styles and tricks developed as snowboarding progressed through the years. The following are the three basic snowboarding styles executed during competitions.
Freestyle
Freestyle is considered the most glamorous of the three snowboarding styles. This is also the most common style everyone always sees on TV. Freestyle snowboarding Idaho extreme sports enthusiasts enjoy entails executing about a variety of tricks and jumps on terrain parks, rails, and U-shaped ramps. Snowboarders often exude angst and attitude while gliding with their boards. They usually wear soft boots that allow them to jump, spin in the air, and land with grace.
Freeride
Subsequently, freeride snowboarding is a generic ice gliding type of sport that involves a variety of snowboarding elements and discipline. This type of snowboarding Idaho is known for allows riders to smoothly glide on snow. It exudes the element of relaxation and discovery as it allows riders to move quite fast while cruising through trees, lakes, and slopes.
Alpine
People who enjoy taking on a challenge find alpine snowboarding the best among the three. This type allows riders to cruise downhill. Racers wear hard plastic boots and use race-oriented boards. This style of snowboarding is all about speed. The goal of alpine snowboarders is to make clean and smooth turns. In alpine snowboarding Idaho has to offer, participants are required to have dexterity, focus, physical strength, and an alert mind to safely arrive at the finish line.
